报告题目:The Fractional Fisher-KPP equation with free boundaries

报告摘要：In this talk I will report some recent progresses on a fractional free boundary problem of the form $u_t+(-\Delta)^s u=f(u)$ over a one-dimensional interval $(g(t), h(t))$, where $x=g(t)$ and $x=h(t)$ are the free boundaries governed by suitable free boundary conditions. Here $(-\Delta)^s$ is the fractional Laplacian with $0<s<1$ and $f(u)$ is a Fisher-KPP nonlinearity behaving like $u(1-u)$. This problem may be viewed as a model for propagation, where $u(t,x)$ is the density of a spreading species, and $(g(t), h(t))$ is the evolving population range. When the fractional Laplacian is replaced by the standard Laplacian or by a nonlocal diffusion operator generated by a continuous kernel function $J(x)$, the corresponding free boundary models have been well-understood. But the fractional Laplacian case to be discussed here as a natural extension of the existing cases has been difficult to treat and remained open for many years. In the talk I will explain the background, the recent results (including well-posedness and long-time dynamics), and a crucial approximation technique which makes this break-through possible. The talk is based on joint work with Prof. Huyuan Chen (SIMIS, Shanghai) and Dr Wenjie Ni (UNE, Australia).

报告人简介

杜一宏，澳大利亚科学院院士、澳大利亚新英格兰大学教授。他于1978年至1988年在山东大学获得学士、硕士和博士学位，导师为郭大钧教授。1988年至1991年赴英国Heriot-Watt University大学做Research Fellow，1991年至1992年在澳大利亚新英格兰大学做Research Fellow，合作导师为国际著名数学家、澳大利亚科学院院士E.N. Dancer教授。随后历任澳大利亚新英格兰大学讲师、高级讲师、副教授、教授。2021年当选澳大利亚科学院院士，2024年被澳大利亚研究委员会授予Australian Laureate Fellowship。目前主要研究兴趣包括非线性椭圆型和抛物型偏微分方程、自由边界问题、非线性泛函分析及其应用。已在国际一流数学杂志包括JEMS、ARMA、Math. Ann.、PLMS、JFA、JMPA、TAMS、AIHP、SIAM、IUMJ、CVPDE、Nonlinearity、JDE等发表学术论文170余篇。已发表论文完全他引次数超过5000次，多次入选Web of Science高被引学者。
