报告题目：Counting lattice points and eigenvalues

报告摘要：

In this talk, I will first introduce a classic problem from number theory of counting lattice points in certain Euclidean domains (for example, planar disks and convex domains with smooth boundary and nonvanishing Gaussian curvature). I will explain how to applyharmonic analysistoolsto this kind of problem.

Next, I will introduce several classical problems in spectral geometry concerning eigenvalue counting for the Laplacian—such as Weyl's law and Pólya's conjecture—on bounded domains like squares, disks, annuli, and their higher-dimensional analogues. I will discuss the connection between these problems and lattice point counting, and present our recent results on improved remainder estimates in Weyl's law.

郭经纬教授简介

郭经纬,中国科学技术大学副教授,博导,安徽省青年拔尖人才青年学者, 2011年博士毕业于威斯康辛大学麦迪逊分校,师从著名分析学家Andreas Seeger. 2011年-2014年在美国伊利诺伊厄巴纳-香槟分校任助理教授, 2014年9月入职中国科学技术大学数学学院,任专任研究员, 2021年至今任中国科学技术大学副教授.主要研究领域为调和分析及其应用,曾在Roth型定理、谱几何、格点计数等问题里获得系列成果,发表于Math. Ann., J. Funct. Anal., J. Fourier Anal. Appl., Rev. Mat. lberoam.等杂志.
