摘要：Free probability theory, developed by Voiculescu in the 1980s, provides a framework for studying non-commutative random variables, with connections to random matrix theory and operator algebras. Central to this theory is the notion of free cumulants, which encode the freeness of random variables in analogy with classical independence. This course develops a unified algebraic framework for non-commutative probability theory based on shuffle Hopf algebras. Rather than relying on Möbius inversion over lattices of non-crossing partitions, we encode moments and cumulants as characters on a Hopf algebra equipped with an unshuffle coproduct. This perspective reveals free, Boolean, and monotone cumulants as three facets of a single algebraic structure, providing elegant and transparent proofs of classical results. Pre-Lie algebra structures arise naturally in this context, shedding new light on the combinatorics of cumulants. Prerequisites include basic familiarity with algebra and probability theory. Applications to random matrices and operator-valued probability will be discussed.

报告人简介

Kurusch Ebrahimi-Fard(1973年生于德国）是挪威科技大学数学教授，专长于代数、组合数学和概率论。他于2006年在波恩大学获得理论物理博士学位。他曾先后在德国、法国和西班牙多所高校任职，其中包括在尼斯大学担任长期访问教授（2011–2026年）。他是挪威皇家科学院与文学院的当选院士。他在同行评审期刊上发表了119篇论文，被MathSciNet引用1373次，被Web of Science引用1181次。他已指导了6名博士生，目前担任奥斯陆高级研究中心研究员（2025–2027年）。
