报告摘要：In this talk we will discuss a new phenomenon in geometric analysis called drawstrings, in which one can arbitrarily collapse a codimension 2 submanifold without decreasing the scalar curvature too much. In particular, we will address an application to a conjecture of Agol-Storm-Thurston on volume entropy. This is based on joint work with Demeter Kazaras and Antoine Song.

报告人简介

Kai Xu，美国杜克大学数学系在读博士生，研究兴趣包括以下领域中的问题：geometric analysis, calculus of variations, metric geometry and geometric measure theory.他目前的研究集中在以下课题上：the geometry of scalar curvature, the weak inverse mean curvature flow (both its analytic aspects and geometric applications), and Ricci curvature lower bounds in the spectral sense.
