报告摘要: We propose a time-delayed model of West Nile virus (WNv) with periodic extrinsic incubation period (EIP) and mosquito demographics including stage-structure, pair formation and intraspecific competition. We define two quantities R_minand R_maxfor mosquito population and the basic reproduction number R₀for our model. It is shown that the threshold dynamics are determined by these three parameters: (i) if R_max<1, the mosquito population will not survive; (ii) if R_min>1 and R₀<1, then WNv disease will go extinct; and if R_min>1 and R₀>1, then the disease will persist. Numerically, we simulate the long-term behaviors of solutions and reveal the influences of key model parameters on the disease transmission. A new finding is that R₀is non-monotone with respect to the fraction of the aquatic mosquitoes maturing into adult male mosquitoes, which can help us implement more effective control strategies. Besides we observe that using the time-averaged EIP has the possibility of underestimating the infection risk. This work is jointly with Zhiwen Zhang.

白振国教授简介:白振国，副教授，于2011年在西安交通大学获得博士学位，2016年至2017年在加拿大纽芬兰纪念大学做访问学者。研究方向为生物数学及其应用动力系统，已在《SIAM J. Appl. Math.》、《J. Math. Biol.》、《Math. Biosci.》、《J. Theoret. Biol.》等杂志发表学术论文20余篇。目前主持国家自然科学基金面上项目和陕西省自然科学基金面上项目各一项。
