应兰州大学数学与统计学院副院长邓伟华教授的邀请，哥伦比亚大学应用数学讲席教授杜强将于2020年9月20日进行线上专题学术报告。

报告题目:Nonlocal modeling, analysis and computation: some recent development

报告摘要：Nonlocality has become increasingly noticeable in nature. The effective modeling and simulation of its presence and impact bring on new challenges to mathematicians. In this talk, we will discuss nonlocal models with a finite horizon of interactions and their roles in various applications. We will reveal some practical risks due to inappropriately designed nonlocal models and discretizations. We will show how systematic mathematical development can help making nonlocal modeling and simulations more effective and robust for problems in areas like solid and fluid mechanics, and autonomous vehicle traffic flows.

杜强教授简介

杜强，博士，哥伦比亚大学傅氏基金会应用数学讲席教授，数据研究院数据驱动科学计算体系中心共同主任。美国数学会会士，美国科学促进协会会士、工业与应用数学学会会士、国际数学家大会邀请报告人。冯康科学计算奖获得者，曾任科技部第二批973计划“大规模科学计算研究”首席科学家。
